Established in 2001 Karan Thompson Consulting has grown from strength to strength. We offer bespoke consultancy services which develop and transform businesses primarily within the arts, culture, tourism, education and creative industries sectors.

We are not your regular consultancy service.

Our approach involves working alongside your team to deliver the best outputs for your business. We leverage our experience, insights and expertise to ensure that your team has the capacity to continue your business development long after our work with you is complete.

We work with you to design an approach that best suits your company’s needs.  We are equally happy working with Owner/Managers of micro enterprises to large-scale organisations.

We operate an associate model of consultancy, scaling our team to meet the specific requirements required by each assignment.  We work with a team of trusted partners in Ireland an internationally who share our values and deliver as part of the KTCL team.

Karan has extensive experience across multiple business sectors and is a passionate advocate for the development of the cultural and creative industries and cultural tourism sectors in Ireland. Prior to establishing KTCL she held significant roles in both the public and private sectors for over 14 years including roles at the National Concert Hall and Braxtel Communications (USA).

Karan enjoys working closely with clients sharing insights and experience to develop client businesses. She is equally at home working with micro-enterprises as she is in developing international bids, preparing industry reports, strategic plans and feasibility studies for projects at national and international level. A core feature of her work is her ability to develop partnerships and align stakeholders to achieving common goals.

Karan is a member of the board of Graffiti Theatre Company with former roles on the board of the National Concert Hall and VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Arts, and as Chair of the Helix Advisory Board (DCU).

Paul Maher, Director

Paul provides consultancy primarily for the arts, culture and creative industries sectors. His background in group facilitation and data gathering and work with young people in particular, being core to our research and consultation projects.  Paul holds an MSc in Education and Elearning from Dublin City University a BA Equivalency in Music Performance and Diploma in Digital Multimedia and won a European Medea Award in 2011. 

Paul combination of skills as  a creative practitioner both as a digital media specialist and professional orchestral percussionist (with over 14 years as percussionist with Ireland’s  National Symphony Orchestra)  ensures that our work within the cultural sector reflects the current and emerging needs of creative and cultural practitioners. 

Paul is also Founder and Director of Simply Music (a trading arm of KTCL) which delivers high-quality, innovative and engaging learning experiences for young people and educators across Ireland, through a combination of interactive technology and live music-making.
