Project: Three Sisters 2020 – European Capital of Culture Bid

Following a feasibility study by KTCL in 2014 the joint local government councils of Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford joined together to bid for the title of European Capital of Culture 2020.  This ambitious bid was developed as a regional response to the European Capital of Culture process, with the three counties coming together to present a Regional Bid under the name of the Three Sisters 2020.  The Three Sisters Bid was successful in being selected for the final stage of the ECOC selection process, presenting to the ECOC jury in July 2015.  KTCL led the selection phase of the Bid process, co-authoring the Three Sisters 2020 Bid Book – Re-Imagining Our Region and authoring Better Together, the Three Sisters Regional Cultural Strategy (2016 -2025), which supported the Bid and provides the blueprint for cultural development across the region.
